NPOGroups

Welcome to the Ecoterm email reflector. This email reflector is established to facilitate discussion among the Ecoterm participants.

The Ecoterm group first met in Geneva, Switzerland during April 2004. At that time the group was created and it was agreed that an email reflector would be established.

The purpose of Ecoterm is to bring together major providers of environmental terminologies to discuss the status of their terminologies, current use and future use of their resources, how they are applying new technologies, and how these resources can be advanced and �integrated� using new technologies.

The Ecoterm work is part of the Interagency/International Cooperation on Ecoinformatics (I/ICE). This initiative supports the individual missions of the participating organizations � at local to global levels � through stimulation of information science and information technology advances. The I/ICE efforts draw together many projects that are researching, developing, demonstrating, piloting and deploying environmental information technologies.� I/ICE projects seek to expand the benefits of these activities by deploying knowledge and information systems internationally; sharing the costs and benefits of the evelopment; and publicizing the results.
